Melissa Hirokawa, a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), is the president and founder of Living Spirit Therapy Services, LLC. She received her music therapy equivalency degree and Master of Music in Music Therapy from Western Michigan University. Melissa is a Fellow in the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapists for treatment of clients with neurologic disorders; and has additional training and experience working with people with dementia, and patients in hospice and palliative care. Melissa has provided music therapy services throughout training and professional work with a wide variety of clientele including patients/clients in hospice, long-term care, adult day care, pediatric hematology/oncology, adult oncology, medical/surgical, eating disorders programs, adolescent psychiatry, severe multiple impairments, emotional impairments, complex medical conditions, and all levels of special education. She has also treated individuals with sensory impairments, mental disorders, cerebral palsy, fibromyalgia, dementia, Parkinson’s, and stroke. Melissa provided eight years of direct care for people with special needs; received several awards and scholarships during her training; has presented over 30 times locally and nationally on music therapy; and has been featured in television and radio interviews, and as the cover story of the Care Options Network’s 2012-2013 Senior Housing Directory. Topics of presentations include music therapy in treatment of: patients and families in hospice and palliative care, the holistic needs of the elderly, medical music therapy, fibromyalgia, stroke, intergenerational programming, dementia, and fall prevention among others. Her practice specializes in music therapy services for the elderly; people with dementia; hospice and palliative care; and neurologic issues such as stroke and Parkinson’s.


Brianna Larsen is a board-certified music therapist.  She received her degree from the University of  North Dakota where she graduated suma cum laude.  She did her internship at Musicworx, Inc., a leader in music and wellness in San Diego, California.  Brianna has provided services with a wide variety of clientele and populations including premature babies in NICU, adults and children with special needs, substance abuse, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), stroke, cerebral palsy, adult oncology, palliative care, intensive care, hospice, medical/surgical, adult day care, dementia/Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease and health and wellness groups.  She particularly enjoys working with neurological issues such as TBI and stroke victims.  

Kelsey Adriance is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) with advanced training in neurologic music therapy. She received her training from Western Michigan University whose program is focused on neurologic music therapy and research on the brain and music. Her internship was completed at Park Nicollet Health Services in St. Louis Park, MN, combining experience in inpatient and outpatient hospice; adult oncology; and Parkinson’s Disease treatment at Struthers Parkinson’s Center, an endorsed center of excellence by the National Parkinson’s Foundation.  Kelsey has also served a variety of other clientele including children with autism spectrum disorder and fragile X, traumatic brain injury (TBI), Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s/dementia, and hospice and palliative care. She has a particular passion for working with hospice patients and their loved ones, making the end of life moments meaningful and comfortable; and working with those coping with Parkinson’s Disease.
